Diaper rash strikes again!

Just when I was telling people that we'd been pretty clear on the rash for a few months, my little Mr. Sensitive needs some extra tlc. I still think the cloth diapers have been working pretty well considering the lessened amount of rashes. This time I'm trying yet another solution that is supposed to be miraculous and safe for cloth diapers- coconut oil! It's sold for cooking mostly. Hopefully it works!!

For now, Trevor is just chilling in one of his many baking soda baths (vitamin c lollipops included). I plan to pick up some oatmeal later tonight!

But yay for Lots of occasions for Trevor to show off his inner giraffe self this Halloween! Pics to come soon!

Soccer Tots!

Despite Alec's Reservations that Trevor was too young to benefit from organized soccer, I decided to fudge on his birthdate a little and sign him up for an 8 week session of soccer. They required that he be at least 18 months. I figured that Trevor wouldn't be behind in the mobility area, but wasn't realizing that most of the other kids would be well over a year older, which is a huge difference at that age. Well, our first session was this past weekend... And once again, Alec May have been correct;).

While Trevor loved chasing the balls and throwing them, he wasn't so much up for the organized team stretching or waiting in lines to take a shot on goal. After about 45 minutes of us having our own morning soccer outing, we left the practice area and requested we hold off until at least next season!

So now, we need to find something else to get us out of the house on Saturdays once the new babe arrives!

Mountains cont. and Trucks!

Great weekend with great weather in the NC mountains and at "Touch a Truck"

(I'm having trouble cutting and pasting  these photos, so here they are from our weekend pretty mixed up..)

The balloons can be just as fun as the trucks according to Ellis and Trevor

Def not in love with this pic, but it was one of few on the "hayride" fun at the maze
Taking a break at the corn maze

The maze was really hard, we had to cheat to get out!
But, it was the perfect confined place for a toddler to run through

Now it's time to pick out a pumpkin

I had never been to a real pumpkin patch where the pumpkins are still attached to the vine and have to be cut and washed off..
and here is the winner... beautiful huh?:)

Then we came back home and went to the Junior League event, "Touch a Truck"

If Ellis is driving, I'm outta here
Gus the Bus
The Oscar Meyer Weiner Mobile
They even had a petting zoo which is Trevor's favorite thing to do!
They had so many different trucks to explore
Hola hoop fun
Sneaking some more petting in

And they even had a train!

36 wk ultrasound

Well our little girl has turned! So now she has until Nov. 9th to come on her own terms or she will be rudely removed. The ultrasound showed her measuring at 5 and a half lbs this week and I'm betting she has a full 4 more weeks to grow. Luckily for the nursery sake, "she" is still a girl;).

Alec, Trevor and I decided to take a last little get away to the mountains this weekend. Here are some pics so far from Blowing Rock....

Time for some fudge and popcorn...

Pregnancy Insomnia

I got one of my handy daily pregnancy emails stating that 3 out of 4 women experience pregnancy insomnia, well, apparently Trevor wanted to make sure we get to experience it in our household:).  I have been so happy with our little guy's sleep habits for several months, but for whatever reason, he has decided that 1am-2am is the new meal time/play time.  I'm trying to not make this a habit, but it's so hard to listen to your baby (he's still my baby for another 3 weeks) cry for a solid 30 minutes.  I tried giving him water, changing his diaper, tylenol in case of teething, rub his back, even bring him in bed with us which NEVER works.  When he sees our bed, he immediately is rejuvenated and thinks it's play time so back to the crib we go.  Anyhow, tonight I'm determined to ignore the cries because the doctor said if he is hungry he has to teach himself to fill up more during the day and not to rely on his weak mommy to feed him whenever he pleases during the middle of the night.  SO, we'll see how that goes.

And an update on the speech therapist.  I think I repeated so many times, that "I'm not worried at all about Trevor's speech", that I have started to second guess my self.  Well mainly I blame google.  They worry me to death whenever I google anything that I may think is an issue.  Regardless of the several forums that said boys are naturally late talkers, some children are focused more on motor skills and don't want to battle with the frustrating time of learning speech and just wait til age 2-3 when they can easily string phrases together, I also read that early intervention was key IF there is a problem.  So, with my mommy guilt, we have set Trevor up for speech therapy.  The therapist said that some children just need a little push and will start speaking after just a few sessions so that's what this mom and her bank account are hoping for!:) They won't start for another month though.

We went on a family walk and someone was tired of his stroller so walked at our speed for at least 25 minutes until we got to a busy street.

Just getting ready for another day of school

Therapists

We had our developmental evaluation for Trevor yesterday.  Two therapists came in and sat on the floor with Trevor for about an hour playing a series of games/puzzles with him and asking me questions about his behavior.  They said that they determined his levels by the particular activity that he got stuck on.  For example, one of the activities was unscrewing a bottle and then figuring out a way to get the small contents out.  He really seemed to enjoy everything they had in their bags and was quite interactive with them.

They were testing in every area and we will get a full written report in the mail, but the areas that I remember off hand were speech (expressive and comprehensive), social, self help, and motor skills.  There were definitely more, but a lot of them overlapped.  Not surprisingly, Trevor does show a mild delay in expressive conversation which we have had a clue because he is not using any words.  The therapists were very reassuring that everything was ok and gave me a list of home activities to encourage speech and told me to try not to anticipate his "needs" as much so that he has to find a way to ask for them.  In all other areas, Trevor was on target or scoring ahead at the 18 month range.  It's hard for me to not have things ready for my little guy, but I'm thinking and the therapists agreed that I might not be as on top of it after the new baby comes so Trevor will be forced to ask for things!

We had a pretty calm weekend so here are just a few pics from recent days...

Hospital Visits

Well we had an interesting weekend.  We went to Charlotte to visit Alec's mom and brother.  Saturday night, I started to feel like my body temperature was fluctuating greatly and I was overly tired.  I finally took my temperature and found that I had a 103 temperature.  I took some extra strength tylenol and called my on call nurse to see if there was anything else that I should do.  After several questions, she said that she had to check with the MD and call me back.  About ten minutes later, I got a phone call back saying that I needed to go to the hospital to be checked out because the fever was high with a 35 week baby.  I told them the fever had gone down since the Tylenol had kicked in, but they said I still needed to go be checked out.  We had wanted to go back to Greensboro so we could go to Women's hospital, but Trevor was sleeping so soundly that we also didn't want to wake him.  We decided to try and get some rest and leave first thing in the morning to head to the hospital in Greensboro.  However after about 3 hours in bed, I started to worry myself thinking that I was neglecting the doctor's orders and hurting the baby so we headed into the Charlotte ER around midnight... which is quite an interesting place to be.  Luckily, we were admitted extremely fast and put into the ob department (away from scary gun shot victim's friends).  However, everything afterwards was kind of slow moving. They checked the baby, who was doing great.  I was showing signs of irritability (slight contractions) every 3 minutes, but after upping my intake of fluids, they improved.  After several other tests, they were not able to decipher where the fever was coming from, but ruled out several things.  So I was discharged at 5:30 am and told to come back if the fever rose.

We slept for a couple of hours until Trevor woke up and then packed up to come back to Greensboro Sunday morning.  We dropped off Trevor at my parents and both came home to crash.  After sleeping for several hours, my fever had gone back up to 103, so I called my doctor again and he said to go to Women's hospital to get it checked out again.  I was very reluctant since we had essentially done the same thing earlier that day.  We went to go check on Trevor and waited a few hours, but the fever hadn't improved so we decided to follow the instructions.

I was really impressed with Women's Hospital in Greensboro.  We were admitted very quickly and the nurses were all very kind.  It made us excited and more ready to have our little girl.  Alec kept asking, "do you think they can just go ahead and do the C section now?"  They did all of the same tests that were done in Charlotte and found the exact same information out.. nothing looked abnormal.  The doctor ordered an ultrasound to make sure the fever wasn't affecting the baby's fluid levels.  They said our baby passed with flying colors!  However, out of curiosity, I asked what the position of our baby was and she is breech with her feet right up by her head.  That explains why I feel like she is in one big ball on my upper right hand side.  The ultrasound tech said that generally babies are usually set in their position by 35 weeks, so we'll see what the doctor says... I'm still scheduled for another ultrasound Oct. 12th to check the position.

So after the tests came back, the doctor said I could go home, but to follow up with the OB practice early this week. We felt like the doctor's were being a little extra precautious, but I guess it is always better safe than sorry.  Hopefully it's just a quick virus that I will be over in no time.  And if nothing else, we feel a little more familiar with Women's Hospital and excited about going there to have our baby!

In other news... Trevor had a good weekend visiting with both Grandmothers and Grandfather.  He was FINE being left alone with them unlike in some recent visits:).  This made us very happy and relieved!

Mimi sent me this picture to reassure me that Trevor was happy!
